Comic: Hard Rock Issue 13: Dead Kennedys

So there's this comic series called "Hard Rock," that was published by "Revolutionary Comics," back in the day. They released comics based on bands like "Pantera," "Megadeth," and "Motley Crue,' the whole series lasted from 1992 to 1993, even though they released other rock inspired comics under other titles since 1989.

Well, this is one gem that they did release based on The Dead Kennedys career. The only other punk band they covered was The Ramones. The artwork is pretty decent and it covers the Dead Kennedys pretty well. It's pretty goofy, so don't expect anything mind-blowing, though.

These comics were completely unofficial so no bands ever saw any royalties from these comics. That led to a lawsuit between "New Kids on the Block" (hahahaha) and them, Revolutionary comics won in a first amendment ruling, but couldn't release anything featuring NKotB. After the lawsuit, Revolutionary promptly released the NKotB comic without using the NKotB logo. The whole lawsuit gave Revolutionary all kinds of publicity and led to record sales for an indie comic company.
