New things are coming to this blog. I'm going to continue to post reviews and downloads to underground music, but I'm also gonna try doing some interviews with bands, post more news articles, artwork, and stuff like that. If anyone is interested hit me up. It's been a while since I've updated this. A long while, but I feel it's time to get back into it.

Rich Kids on L.S.D. (RKL) - Rock N Roll Nightmare [1993/MP3/320kbps]

Rich Kids on L.S.D. formed in 1982 in Montecito, CA. Their act is often associated with the "nardcore," scene, but their actual style of music is very eclectic. They have that hardcore punk sound, but mix in plenty of face-melting heaviness and funky basslines to make themselves sound very unique. A very revolutionary punk band, that went through all sorts of tribulations. The band is no longer active, because three members have died, and they're still unsure if they want to continue as a band after their singer, Jason Sears died.

This album is pretty much their essential album, and my personal favorite along with "Rags to Riches."

Rudimentary Peni - The E.P.'s of R.P. [1982/MP3]

Rudimentary Peni is pretty much one of the founding bands of the anarcho-punk movement, along with Crass and The Subhumans. These guys started off on Crass records, actually. Their music has never been too political though. Their lyrics are filled with social satire, but mostly their music is just a grim, morose, landscape of disturbing imagery. One of the strangest bands I have ever heard. Their singer and guitarist, Nick Blinko is a diagnosed Schizophrenic. Their music, especially their stuff released after this shows it.

These are their first recordings, combined into one CD release, so this stuff is much more of your standard-fare punk with snarky, biting lyrics, and crunchy, mid-tempo riffs. This and Death Church are my favorite releases by the band.

InBev:

Anheuser-Busch is one of the top 40 air polluters in the US, releasing over 2,200,000 lbs of pollutants into the sky last year alone. Historically AB has had a good, labor-friendly reputation, but unfortunately this has changed since its merger with InBev. At the time of this draft, AB has stopped payment on pensions for AB union widows, and is currently renegotiating union contracts with a 10% reduction in workforce expected. It is worth mentioning that Arizona Senator John McCain is a significant stock holder in AB. Also, AB subsidiary Sea World has had its license for capture and detainment of dolphins and orcas repeatedly revoked.

Hate Mail From a So-Called "Vet"

This is an "article," that I posted over at "Artless Nonculture" a few months. I am a music performer also, and this guy just decided to write me some hate-mail because he read a craigslist post I made looking for a banjo player:

Toxic Narcotic - 89-99 [1999/MP3/320kbps]

Toxic Narcotic is the longest running, active DIY punk band from Boston. Lately they haven't done a whole lot since their drummer had an injury a couple of years back and two of the members started "Mouth Sewn Shut," but they still do shows from time to time. These guys are balls-to-the-wall, hard, heavy, and fast as fuck punk. They're pissed and proud to proclaim it. If you haven't heard these guys you are missing the fuck out. This is all of the songs they wrote from 1989 to 1999, re-recorded in 1999.

Joey Allcorn - 50 Years too Late [2006/MP3/320kbps]

Joey Allcorn is an artist who plays straight-forward country very similar to Hank Williams Sr. Great album to sit back and chill to. On this album he does a song with Hank III and a song with Lonesome Wyatt of "Those Poor Bastards." Check it out if you're a fan of Hank III, J.B. Beverly, Wayne Hancock, or Jimmy Rogers.

Comic: Hard Rock Issue 13: Dead Kennedys

So there's this comic series called "Hard Rock," that was published by "Revolutionary Comics," back in the day. They released comics based on bands like "Pantera," "Megadeth," and "Motley Crue,' the whole series lasted from 1992 to 1993, even though they released other rock inspired comics under other titles since 1989.

Well, this is one gem that they did release based on The Dead Kennedys career. The only other punk band they covered was The Ramones. The artwork is pretty decent and it covers the Dead Kennedys pretty well. It's pretty goofy, so don't expect anything mind-blowing, though.

These comics were completely unofficial so no bands ever saw any royalties from these comics. That led to a lawsuit between "New Kids on the Block" (hahahaha) and them, Revolutionary comics won in a first amendment ruling, but couldn't release anything featuring NKotB. After the lawsuit, Revolutionary promptly released the NKotB comic without using the NKotB logo. The whole lawsuit gave Revolutionary all kinds of publicity and led to record sales for an indie comic company.

The Saddle Tramps - Don't Laugh It's Prayed For: Songs of Sacrilege and Salvation [2007/MP3/V0]

The Saddle Tramps are a country/punk/rockabilly band from Reno NV. Their songs are are delivered with tight country licks and hilarious over-the-top vocals. This is one of those albums that I can just listen to over and over. It's definitely not P.C. and not for the overly-sensitive, but if you enjoy a good rockabilly album that can give you a good chuckle all the while rocking your face off, this is for you. There's a pretty awesome Misfits cover on this album, too.

Black Hole of Calcutta is a crust/grind band from Chico CA. These guys have toured Europe and released several splits with bands all over the world. Most recently they were included in a tribute to the great "Nasum." This is their rare, first release. A demo on a CD-R. The best alt-country I've ever heard. This guy is an excellent songwriter (Although sometimes a little over the top) This is the type of music they should be playing on country radio and CMT, but instead they play crap. You might recognize him from the track Hank III did with him at the end of his latest country album, "Damn Right and Rebel Proud." Bob Wayne wrote and sang "Working Man," with him on that album. It's also on this album, but without Hank III singing.

Falling Sickness & Dysentery Split [1999/MP3/320kbps]

Now this is a fucking punk split. Two devestating punk bands doing what they do best, fuck shit up. Both bands are from Riverside CA, Falling Sickness broke up in 2000. I don't know what Dysentery is doing, but checking their Myspace irregularly, I don't see them posting any shows, so maybe they're inactive? Two of the members of Falling Sickness are now in a band called, "Dogs of Ire." Anyhow, this is a must have if you like heavy, loud, fast punk music.
